Description
The 10×75 mm screw-in wooden hinge with a Ø16 mm pin is a hardware fitting designed for securing swing shutters to wooden frames. Its 10 mm diameter, 75 mm long wood-threaded shank ensures a secure hold, whilst its 16 mm pin fits the corresponding shutter hinges. This hinge is particularly used for re-fixing shutters on externally insulated façades, in conjunction with the wedges and blocks designed for fixing façade fittings.

The 10×75 mm wood screw-in hinge, with a Ø16 mm wedge, is an essential hardware component for fixing swing shutters to a wooden frame. Its wood-threaded shank, 10 mm in diameter and 75 mm long, ensures a strong and durable anchor, whilst its 16 mm pin, welded to the hinge body, guarantees good mechanical strength over time. The choice of pin diameter depends on the shutter hinge: the 16 mm version is suitable for hinges with an eye matching this diameter. The cut-off, non-rolled thread enhances the hinge’s resistance to daily wear and tear, whilst its black finish ensures a discreet appearance and protection against the elements. This hinge is particularly useful in external thermal insulation projects, where the re-fitting of existing swing shutters requires fittings compatible with the thickness of the insulation installed on the façade. When used with dedicated fixing blocks or shims, it ensures the shutters are securely fixed after the installation of an external thermal insulation system. Sold individually, it enables façade contractors, joiners and energy-efficiency renovation firms to tailor their orders precisely to the number of fixing points required on site.
The 16 mm screw-in hinge remains my default recommendation for sound timber: it can be fitted straight away, with no drying time required, unlike a chemical anchor. Simply check the quality of the existing timber before drilling, as rotten timber would compromise the hold.
