Waterproofing an insulated façade: joints, connections and caulking

Not a single drop behind your insulation

An external wall insulation system is watertight across its main surfaces thanks to its render. Its weak points lie elsewhere: the junctions with joinery, window sills, penetrations through the façade, and the stops at the base or top of the wall. This is where water seeps in if the joint is not properly sealed; it then soaks the insulation and causes the render to blister. There is a specific product for each joint:

White acrylic sealant: for low-stress joints between the render and masonry or window frames. It can be painted over.
Berner silicone sealants, transparent or anthracite: for joints exposed to water and subject to movement, around PVC, aluminium or timber joinery.
Universal PU foam: for sealing open joints between panels, up to 10 mm wide, before applying the render. It must never be used as a substitute for a piece of insulation.

Profiles complete the waterproofing:

the drip profile prevents water from running back under the lintels;
the aluminium drip rail channels runoff water away from the base of the façade and protects the bottom of the insulation.

Fabric-backed tape protects the joinery during rendering to ensure clean joints.

Facade treatment: primer and long-lasting protection

A façade that stays clean, sound and securely attached

Treating a façade involves preparing its surface so that the coating adheres properly, and then providing long-lasting protection against water, algae and mould. This treatment is carried out in two stages. Before the final coat: the bonding primer.

Fassa’s FX 526 is a pigmented primer containing fine aggregate. It evens out the absorption of the base layer or existing render, improves adhesion and prepares the surface for colouring. It is applied in a single coat using a roller or brush, diluted with a maximum of 5 per cent water, at a rate of 0.12 to 0.16 l/m².
Primertech 101, a single-component acrylic primer, completes the range.

For the top coat: choosing the right protection.

RX 561 acryl-siloxane offers low water absorption (W3) and protects against a wide range of algae and mould. It is suitable for damp, shaded or vegetation-adjacent façades.
Fassil R 336 silicate protects the wall whilst allowing it to breathe (V1).

For an existing façade:

Clean and brush off stubborn dirt.
Remove any loose layers.
Apply the primer.
Finish with MR 287 façade paint.

Protecting your façade – it’s simple

يُطبق على الأسطح مثل الجدران والأبواب. له ملمس ناعم، لكن لا ينبغي تطبيقه بكمية كبيرة. أما بالنسبة للتطبيق، فيمكن استخدام فرشاة أكريليك لإضافة اللمسات النهائية. عند تطبيق الطلاء على الجدران، وبغض النظر عن نوع السطح، فإن كلا المادتين فعالتان للغاية.

الأسباب التي تجعل يُقال إن المجرى المائي هو نفسه الذي يأتي من خوار: المجرى المائي الذي يتدفق، بينما يمر عبر الأرض، والجدار المبني يدويًا، والنوافذ التي تفتح للخارج، والتي تفتح وتغلق بعد تركيبها في الجزء السفلي. في الداخل، يتم تطبيق الطلاء والزخرفة على الستائر باستخدام فرشاة ذات شعيرات ناعمة؛ ويتكون تشطيب الجدار من عشر طبقات وطبقة نهائية، مثل الأكريليك-سيلوكسان.

معالج ذو استهلاك منخفض للطاقة، مثل RX 561، الذي يتميز بكفاءته في استهلاك الطاقة؛ يظل على اتصال مستمر بالماء؛ وتؤدي الانفجارات القوية للماء إلى تراكم الماء المتدفق من القناة وتسربه أسفل الجدران. إذا تسببت المياه في أضرار بالبناء قبل أن تجف، فمن الضروري تنظيف السطح وتطبيق طبقة جديدة؛ قم بتطبيق طبقة من البرايمر ثم طبقة جديدة من الطلاء.
